Conversion of a commercial space into a gym and wellness centre

The building located at the corner of Chaussée d'Ixelles and Rue du Berger, marked by its rationalist architectural style, housed the ‘Innovation’ shops until the 1990s. Today, only the basement, ground floor and first floor are still used for commercial purposes, while the upper floors, which are inaccessible, have been left abandoned.

This project breathes new life into these vacant spaces by transforming them into a complex dedicated to sport and wellness. The second and third floors will house a gym and wellness area, complemented by a swimming pool on the fourth-floor terrace, directly linked to the relaxation activities. The fourth and fifth floors will be converted into seminar and meeting rooms and a large restaurant, connected to the Shaker Hotel by a footbridge.

This transformation will be accompanied by a sustainable and aesthetic approach. The roof terraces will be planted with vegetation and equipped with rainwater storage systems, thereby helping to reduce urban runoff. The corner façade will be completely redesigned to restore visual consistency between the first and second floors, and will open up generously on the second floor, bringing light and modernity to the whole building.
