Conversion and extension of a dwelling
The project consists of the conversion and extension of an existing house, located on a plot of land above the Thyle valley in Court-Saint-Etienne. The house is built on two levels. The ground floor was occupied by the living quarters, and the garden level, partially buried in the terrain, consisted of cellars and technical rooms. The living rooms on the ground floor were therefore poorly connected to the garden and the valley.
The project consisted of building an extension to the house at garden level, allowing for the creation of a large terrace on the flat roof of this extension at ground floor level. The extension emphasises the semi-underground nature of the house by following the contours of the land and aims to reduce the visual impact of the construction on the landscape.
